Morena Mnich has a strong background in corporate banking and now focuses on sustainability and sustainable finance as part of Commerzbank’s Sustainable & Transition Finance Advisory. Her aim is to support companies on their transformation journeys and help drive the collective effort to limit global warming to 2°C.

Dr. Nicole Aeschbach

Research Associate at the Heidelberg School of Education (HSE).
Dr. Nicole Aeschbachs work focuses on the development and implementation of participatory approaches in research and teaching on climate change and sustainable development. Her current research emphasises the design of concepts for integrating transformative literacy into higher education. Nicole received her doctorate in palaeoclimate research, was the founding Executive Manager of the HCE, worked at ETH Zurich, and initiated the TdLab Geography at Heidelberg University.

Dr. Bernd Welz
President of the Board of Klima Arena
Since 2020, Dr. Bernd Welz is CEO of the non-profit Klimastiftung für Bürger, which promotes climate awareness and sustainable living through initiatives such as the KLIMA ARENA in Sinsheim. An IT expert by training, he worked as a management consultant at Roland Berger & Partner and spent 22 years in global leadership roles at SAP. His last role at SAP was Executive Vice President and Chief Knowledge Officer, heading the Education division.

Public Health Policy Advisor
Jürgen Rissland is a professor of Public Health, Prevention, and Sustainability at the German University for Prevention and Health Management in Saarbrücken. He has extensive experience in infectious disease management and digital health projects, including nationwide vaccination information systems, and is committed to integrating sustainability and public health in practice and policy.

Christoph Pelizaeus
Head of Sustainability Management and Consulting
With more than 20 years of experience in healthcare projects, Christoph Pelizaeus drives sustainability and innovation at PEGreen. He oversees sustainability management and provides advisory services in ESG, technical management, energy, hygiene, and process optimization. His academic background in Strategic Sustainability Management at the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development is complemented by extensive hands-on expertise in the medical device and consumer goods industries. Today, he focuses on shaping sustainable procurement strategies and building future-ready organizational structures in healthcare.

Research Fellow at Mannheim Institute for Sustainable Energy Studies
Former Head of SAP Global Product Management for Finance & Risk
Christoph Ernst is a seasoned executive in finance solutions with a strong focus on sustainability. At SAP, he led strategic innovation in finance and risk, including the SAP Green Ledger—a solution that helps businesses track carbon, comply with regulations, and move toward net-zero. Since April 2025, he is a Research Fellow at the Mannheim Institute for Sustainable Energy Studies (MISES), University of Mannheim.

Boris Schmitt
Mayor of the town of Waibstadt
Boris Schmitt studied political science and public law at Heidelberg University. He gained many years of experience in policy-making and innovative regional development, including working for former Member of the Bundestag Prof. Dr. Stephan Harbarth, now President of the Federal Constitutional Court, and as Head of Regional Management at the Rhine-Neckar Regional Association. He is currently mayor of the town of Waibstadt (Rhine-Neckar district).

Dominik Buchta
CEO of Stadtsiedlung Heilbronn GmbH
Dominik Buchta has served as the CEO of Stadtsiedlung Heilbronn GmbH, the City of Heilbronn's municipal housing company, since 2017. As a real estate management expert, he prioritizes sustainable and socially responsible urban development. His objectives include serial construction for affordable housing and the use of sustainable building materials, such as timber and clay. Under his leadership, Stadtsiedlung completed Germany’s tallest timber high-rise, setting new standards in ecological and architectural quality. Buchta's professional background includes senior-level positions at GGH Heidelberg and the Freudenberg Group. He holds a degree in engineering with a focus on building technology and an MBA in real estate management.
